VISUAL IDENTITY & ARCHIVAL MOTIF REDESIGN

Developed as part of my MFA thesis (2018–2019), this project explores the relationship between historical Iranian motif reconstruction and contemporary branding.

Based on field documentation of the Tomb of Khajeh Ali Safi (TKAS) in Qom, Iran, I digitally restored a series of historical patterns and translated them into a visual identity for a hypothetical airline company in Qom. The brand system encompasses logo design, print collateral, website design, staff apparel, and airport signage.

The key objective was finding a balance between historical authenticity and functional contemporary design.

Year: 2018–2019

In this presentation, I explore the digital reconstruction and design methodology behind the TKAS project. Originally presented at the Exploring Contemporary Iranian Art Practices symposium (University of Toronto), this talk details how historical 14th-century Ilkhanid motifs from the Tomb of Khajeh Ali Safi were documented, restored, and reinterpreted into a contemporary brand identity system.
